Schaar Wins FS Feature!
Bill Schaar's "patriotic themed" Ford Mustang was dialed in to Dallas County's tight 1/4 mile Saturday Night as he lead from the green flag to the checks. After early challenges from Matt Miller's Camaro, caution flag restarts and a late charge by Lonnie Henderson's Monte Carlo, Schaar would get his first win of the season. Racing for 3rd place was very furious, with Mark Simon, Ken Hicks and Dewayne Hobbs swapping lanes and positions before Simon would get the 3rd position for good at the checkered.
The "Kid's Coin Toss" during intermission was very entertaining for the fans as 2 groups of kids would scramble for coins right under the flagstand of the track. The weekly 50/50 jackpot drawing was over $400 again this week, with a "lucky" race fan taking home over $200 of it. Another "Toss" is coming later in the season.
The B-Mod Feature would have Jeff Miller's 17M hold on for his first win of the 2009 season. Last weeks winner, John Gamble, would charge to a 2nd place finish from his 9th place starting position, but not without hard challenges. Jeff Albright, Simon, Doug Smith in the 11S and others were all in the hunt through the race.
20 Bombers would take to the track for their feature, but it was Rob White's #39 machine that would take the win from his front row starting position. Racing behind White was intense as Larry Flaugher, J.R. Leiber, Tracy Manning and Josh Lewis would battle hard for the other top positions. Flaugher would hold on for yet another 2nd place finish of the season, while Leiber would settle for 3rd.
Mini Stock feature winner Mark Hardesty would make it look easy as he won his 4th feature in a row of the young season. Heath Neil would challenge early, along with Leon Fellar's #12, and Earl Puryear's #63J. Fellar's would make a hard charge late in the race, but would end up with a 2nd place finish.
Jack Wood in the #K4 '55 Chevy would get his 2nd win of the season, but not without a hard charging Danny Coffey coming hard. Coffey, Matt Darnell, Kory Barker's #1B and others battled door to door and bumper to bumper throughout the feature race to keep fans on the edges of their seats, but it was Wood who would get the trophy.
Next Week, racing ACTION begins at 7:30 p.m., Saturday Night, June 20th.

Let me share something with you about Saturday nights' racing at DCS. Before the racing started, Bill came up to the tower and apologized for not being at the track the previous week and gave me 2 bags of Tootsie Roll Pops to give to the kids (what a great gesture). We're having a lot of fun this year at Dallas County.....given away about 10 items every week during intermission, different drivers give the flagman things to toss out to the kids from the flagstand and we have been having an average of $300 to $400 in the 50/50 drawings. Our car count is averaging 70 cars per week. We had 20 Bombers on June 13th.
Bill drove a near flawless race (You missed a great race if you weren't there). He overcame 3-4 restarts after building leads of 3 to 5 car lengths. The Factory Stock class averages 14-16 cars per week and ANY one of them are very capable of winning on any given night. This was no "gimme" for Bill, he "earned" the victory and many fans were on their feet applauding his popular win.
To prove the drivers come to RACE at Dallas County, the Pure Stocks and Factory Stocks were going 3 wide during HOT LAPS. I invite everyone to come and have some fun, see some absolutely great racing on the "lil ole dirt track up north", enjoy some great food from our concessions, take a shot at the 50/50 drawing and also give the kids a chance to win prizes.
Thanks for your support of the Dallas County Speedway. And we don't care where you're from...BRING 'EM ON, EVERYBODY'S WELCOME!!!!
